Is LoL Boosting Detectable? Riot's Anti-Cheat Explained

Riot has multiple anti-boosting systems. Here's exactly what they look for, what pro boosters avoid, and how duo boosting sidesteps the risk entirely.

How Riot Detects Boosting

Riot's detection relies on behavioral analysis: sudden champion pool changes (new champs not in your history), unusual performance spikes, login IP changes across sessions, game timing anomalies (playing at 3am when you never have before), and community reports from players who notice suspicious accounts climbing rapidly.

Machine learning models also compare your historical performance curve against populations — a jump from 45% win rate to 70% win rate in 48 hours without any apparent change in champion pool is a statistical anomaly that gets flagged for manual review.

What Triggers Manual Review

Reports from multiple opponents in the same session, a boosted account appearing on streamer broadcasts who report it, or community spreadsheets that track suspected boosted accounts are the primary triggers for manual action.

High-elo boosting (Diamond+) attracts more scrutiny because the community is smaller and well-known players notice unknown accounts rapidly climbing to Challenger. Bronze-to-Gold boosts are rarely manually reviewed because the volume is too high.

What Pro Boosters Do to Avoid Detection

GG Market sellers follow specific protocols: using VPNs set to your region and city, playing champions you already have in your pool, matching your typical play hours (you tell us your schedule), playing 1–2 games per day rather than 10-game marathon sessions, and using your preferred builds (laned in from your op.gg history).

They also avoid win-streaks of 10+ in a single day, which is statistically abnormal even for genuinely great players.

Duo Boost: The Safe Alternative

Duo boosting completely eliminates account-sharing risk because the booster never touches your login. They create their own smurf, queue with you, and carry. From Riot's perspective, you simply started playing with a high-skill friend — perfectly allowed.

The tradeoff: duo boosts are slower (you play every game and your skill is a variable) and cost 30–40% more. For most buyers, the safety premium is worth it. Losing an account valued at years of skins and champions is infinitely worse than paying an extra $15.

What to Do If You Get Flagged

If you receive a ranked restriction (not a full ban), it typically means Riot suspects boosting but doesn't have sufficient evidence. Do not submit a support ticket asking "why was I restricted" — this rarely ends well. Simply play normal games, return to ranked after the restriction lifts, and play your own champions normally.

If you receive an account ban, GG Market's dispute resolution team handles claims. If the ban was caused by seller negligence (not following protocols), we refund the service cost. We have not had a verified buyer ban from our Diamond+ verified sellers in 18 months.
